Rowhouse in Ghent is a minimal home located in Ghent, Belgium, designed by NU architectuuratelier. The various residential functions are stacked in split levels around a central staircase. The project is for a ceramicist and jewelry who wanted to incorporate a studio within the space to work. The ground floor features a workshop for hosting classes, while the upper level includes a private workshop and reception. The workshop features concrete floors and an array of wooden slabs across the ceiling.
Himeji House is a minimal home located in Kansai, Japan, designed by Fujiwaramuro Architects. At a turn in a sloping road leading up and away from central Himeji, a rectangular building with a square opening in the wall comes into view. The residential neighborhood where it is located is in the foothills, and the house sits on a corner lot with sweeping views of the city. The design task was to construct a low-cost and sustainable single-family dwelling in the Oberberg region, which incorporates the surrounding landscape area into the living space and creates covered outdoor spaces for the rainy summer days in the region.House with Black Ceiling is a minimal home located in Tokyo, Japan, designed by Toru Kashihara Architects. The interior is characterized by a series of exposed steel structural elements that are complemented by dark wooden floors and walls. The exterior shares a similar theme with a darkened metal facade. A spiral staircase is hugged by a curved wall, with the curvature visible near the enrance.Burnt House is a minimal residence located in London, United Kingdom, designed by Will Gamble Architects. The extension was modeled after a Japanese tea house, and features charred wood window seat with a grid-like glass facade inspired by traditional Japanese shoji screens. The extension serves as a large open-plan enclosure for the kitchen and dining space facing the outside courtyard garden.
